Rick Tew's NinjaGym is a ninja indoor playground inside Big C, for ages 3 to 9. Kids come to play ninja: hide and seek, ninja parkour, jumping, rolling, falling and climbing, on obstacle courses and a real climbing wall. It is a drop-off center: you check the kids in and leave, and only kids go on the mat and into the training rooms. Its Guides run the course with the kids and join in. Its Tewtors Creative Learning Room has a large whiteboard table, a whiteboard screen, markers and drawing guides for art, plus Minecraft blocks, Lego and drawing and guessing games, and a custom-built, kid-height, extra-long board game table; the Video Game Room has consoles and computers, Minecraft included, on 75 inch TVs, and no age limit. Drop & Shop: check the kids in, do the Big C shopping upstairs and come back, with an older brother or sister in the Video Game Room and a younger one on the ninja course or in Tewtors. No booking: kids can drop in any time it is open, and signing up in the NinjaGym app takes about 2 minutes. A normal session is 55 minutes and is drop and go; the Combo Game & Train is 2 hours, a session plus game room time. The Half Day Camp runs 10am to 2pm every day, weekends too: drop off any time before 2pm and pick up at 1:50pm, and the day alternates ninja play with time in Tewtors or the Video Game Room, with video games optional. The Full Day is any 6 hours in one day, usually 10am to 4pm. Parents use them when school is closed or on holiday, and while kids who have just moved to Samui wait for a school place; after school, a session until 7pm. The Half Day and the Full Day are drop-off only: parents check the kids in and leave, and every child must be able to use the toilet on their own. Under 3s do not join the main center: a baby or small brother or sister can stay with their parent or nanny in a small play area while an older child plays, or have a one-to-one session with a Guide while the parent waits at the tables (sessions only, not the Half Day or Full Day). Open daily 10am to 7pm, 9am to 9pm when booked ahead. Pay by cash, PromptPay or credit card. Birthday parties and group events start at 2pm or later, any day, booked at ninjagym.com/birthdays. Rick Tew, who runs it, sees many parents use it daily as a morning wake-up or an evening wind-down: an hour of climbing, running and jumping tires high-energy kids out before bed.
